Delhi University allocates Undergraduate seats to 764 single girl child applicants, 132 orphaned students | IIT EXPERT |



New Delhi, the University of Delhi has confirmed the allocation of 74,108 seats for its 71,600 undergraduate spots, including 764 under the new supernumerary quota for single girl child applicants. On Tuesday, the university released the third round of admissions, which began on August 31.
Additionally, 132 seats have been allocated to orphan students under a supernumerary quota introduced last year to support children affected by COVID-19.The single-girl child quota reserves one seat in each programme across DU colleges, while the orphan quota reserves one seat each for a male and a female in every programme. So far, 28,810 students have applied for an upgrade, seeking a better college and course combination for the 2024-25 academic session.
Further, 45,298 applicants chose to freeze their admission, accepting the allocations made by the university.
Admissions in this phase will be offered through performance-based programmes and supernumerary quotas, including those for children of widows of armed forces personnel (CW), and special achievements in extra-curricular activities (ECA) and sports.
As per the data released by the varsity, ECA allocations stood at 1,061, sports allocation at 1,648, and performance-based allocations at 332.
The seat allotment for Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and CW category are still pending and will be announced soon, DU said.
